Kool DJ Red Alert, born Frederick Crute on November 27, 1956, in Antigua, is a pioneering American DJ and hip-hop producer known for his work in radio. He grew up in Harlem, NYC, and had a small hip-hop label, Red Alert Productions, which supported acts like A Tribe Called Quest and the Jungle Brothers. With over eleven years at WRKS and seven at WQHT, he celebrated 25 years as a radio DJ in 2008 and has appeared in over 50 music videos.
