Koretoshi Maruyama is a prominent Japanese Aikido teacher born on October 5, 1936, in Tokyo. He began his martial arts journey with boxing, wrestling, and judo, achieving the 1st Dan in judo. After starting Aikido in 1957 as Uchi-Deshi under Ueshiba Morihei, he shifted careers to become a full-time Aikido instructor in 1967. In 1972, he became the head instructor at Ki no Kenkyukai, following Kōichi Tōhei, and represented Ki-Aikido in Hawaii from 1973. He later retreated to a Zen monastery, where he developed his Aikido-Yuishinkai and a health system called Yuki.
