Kreetta Onkeli is a Finnish writer born in 1970 in Jyväskylä, Finland. She gained recognition with her first novel 'Ilonen talo' in 1996, which won the Kalevi Jäntti award. After a seven-year hiatus, she published more works including short stories and novels, as well as children's books post-2013, one of which received the Finlandia Junior Award. Onkeli studied dramaturgy at the Helsinki Theatre Academy before becoming a freelance writer and later attended nursing school in 2016. Her debut novel is partly autobiographical, reflecting her mother's struggles with alcoholism.
