Kresten Philipsen was a Danish farmer and politician, born on June 29, 1945, in Søgårdsmark near Aabenraa. He was the son of politician Johan Philipsen. After his education, he took over the family farm and served as a member of the Sønderjyllands Amtsråd for the Venstre party from 1978 to 2001, including a term as amtsborgmester from 1982 to 2000. He chaired the Amtsrådsforeningen from 1994 to 2001 and became chairman of Sydbank in 2001. He exited Venstre in 2005 due to dissatisfaction with local government reforms and passed away from liver cancer in July 2011.
