He gained recognition for building Slash's recording guitar, utilized in Guns N' Roses' iconic album, 'Appetite For Destruction.' Additionally, he created many counterfeit 1959 Gibson Les Paul guitars, contributing significantly to the band's signature sound. Tragically, Derrig passed away from cancer on May 14, 1987, before he could witness the impact of his craftsmanship on the music world.
