Kris Hemensley is an English-Australian poet, born on April 26, 1946, who has published approximately 20 poetry collections. He participated in poetry workshops and edited various literary magazines in the 1960s and 70s, notably The Ear in a Wheatfield, which supported non-mainstream poets. Additionally, he hosted a radio program on ABC and served as poetry editor for Meanjin. Hemensley, born to an Egyptian mother and English father, emigrated to Australia in 1966. He received the Christopher Brennan Award in 2005 and managed the poetry bookshop Collected Works until its closure in 2018.
