Kumiko Shindō (born October 5, 1945) is a Japanese historian specializing in American history and gender studies. She is a distinguished professor at Toyo Eiwa University. Born in Kochi Prefecture, Shindō earned her degree in history from Rikkyo University in 1969 and completed her master's at Pennsylvania State University in 1971. She has held several academic positions, including lecturer at Tokiwa University and associate professor at Toyo Eiwa University prior to becoming a full professor in 1996. She received her PhD in law from Kyushu University in 1999.
