Kurt Katzeff was a Swedish engineer born on June 22, 1926, in Stockholm. After graduating from the Royal Institute of Technology in 1950, he worked at L.M. Ericsson, where he became chief engineer and developed modern telephone exchanges, including the AXE system. He also held positions as technical director at ITT Europe and Televerket. In 1987, he was elected to the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. Katzeff was influential in the development of electronic automatic telephone exchanges and proposed the area code 08 for Stockholm.
