Kurt Wüthrich is a Swiss chemist born on October 4, 1938. He studied chemistry, physics, and mathematics at the University of Bern and completed his PhD under Silvio Benzi at the University of Basel in 1964. He briefly worked with Silvio Benzi before joining the University of California, Berkeley from 1965 to 1967. From 1967 to 1969, he worked at Bell Labs. In 1969, he became a professor of biophysics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. In 2002, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry alongside John B. Goodenough and Kōichi Tanaka.
