Keiko Nagita, also known by her pen name Kyōko Mizuki, is a Tokyo-born author born in 1949. She is famous for co-creating the shōjo manga Candy Candy with illustrator Yumiko Igarashi. Inspired by classic children's literature, Nagita began writing at a young age and quickly gained recognition, winning a youth literature award at 17. She published her first novel in her teens, which led to an opportunity to write manga scripts, ultimately resulting in the renowned Candy Candy series, published between 1975 and 1979, which also saw adaptations into anime.
