Kyōsuke Yamamoto was a prominent Japanese Shogi journalist, historian, and novelist known for his pen name Tengu Taro. Born on April 29, 1923, in Kozacho, he graduated from Hikone Commercial School in 1943. He began his career at Osaka Nichi Nichi Shimbun in 1946 and later worked for Sankei and Asahi Shimbun, where he wrote extensively on Shogi. He was a leading authority on Shogi history, publishing multiple works that contributed significantly to the field. Yamamoto passed away on November 10, 1995.
