L. C. Graves was an American police detective notable for his role with the Dallas Police Department from 1949 to 1970. He was involved in homicide and robbery cases and is best known for wrestling a gun from Jack Ruby, who shot Lee Harvey Oswald, the accused assassin of President John F. Kennedy. Graves served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later worked alongside other detectives, providing protection to Oswald before his death. He testified before the Warren Commission regarding the events surrounding Oswald's assassination.
