He is known for creating Aladdin Ghostscript, a free interpreter for PostScript and PDF documents. His contributions include implementing Smalltalk, writing the PDP-1 Lisp processor, and coining the Deutsch limit for visual programming languages. Deutsch earned a Ph.D. in computer science from UC Berkeley in 1973 and was a member of the ACM since 1994. Later in life, he pursued music and completed a Master's in Fine Arts in 2011.
