Lachhu Maharaj, born Laxmi Narayan Singh on October 16, 1944, was a renowned Indian tabla player from the Banaras Gharana. He performed extensively worldwide and was known for his contributions to Indian classical music. He was married to prominent Kathak dancer Annapurna Mishra, with whom he had a daughter, Rachna. After her passing, he married Swiss national Teena, resulting in another daughter, Narayani. Although nominated for the Padma Shri, he declined the award, valuing the appreciation of his audiences more.
