Lieutenant Colonel J.A.L Jayasinghe was a decorated special forces officer in the Sri Lanka Army. He was born on April 29, 1976, and was awarded the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya posthumously, which is the highest honor for bravery in combat in Sri Lanka. Jayasinghe was killed on November 26, 2008, during a covert operation against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), leading an elite squad 30 km behind enemy lines.
