Lars Engman (1945–2020) was a Swedish designer and university rector, known for his long tenure as design chief at IKEA. He began his career as a designer at KF Interiör in Stockholm before becoming the product manager at IKEA in 1975. From 1989 to 1996, he led Niels Gammelgaard Design Studio in Copenhagen. In 1997, he returned to IKEA as Design Manager. In 2007, Engman became the rector of the Högskolan för Design och Konsthantverk at the University of Gothenburg. He also held various board memberships, including Svenska Institutet and design faculties at universities in Lund and Växjö.
