He published the book 'H.O.M.O. - A Saints Calendar' in 2004 and his doctoral thesis 'Does God Hate Gays?' exploring theological perspectives on sexual minorities. Gårdfeldt later shifted to writing fiction and penned his first pulp novel with his brother Niklas, addressing themes of sexuality. He also transitioned from the Social Democrats to Feminist Initiative for the 2014 elections.
