Lars Norvald Nilsen Marakat, born on February 26, 1958, in Kåfjord, served as a representative for the Samefolkets Fellesliste in the Sami Parliament from 1989 to 1993. He earned a vocational degree in automotive mechanics in 1984 and later studied at the University of Tromsø. Nilsen was a board member of SÁNS from 1983 to 1987 and a member of the Manndalen (now Kåfjord) Sami association in the 1980s and 1990s. In the Sami Parliament, he chaired the main committee for culture and language, later the main committee for cultural affairs.
