László Hegedűs, known by his pen name Hegedős László, was a Hungarian poet, writer, journalist, and politician born on December 26, 1936, in Budapest. He was sentenced to life imprisonment due to his involvement in the 1956 revolution. Hegedűs was a founding member of the Alliance of Free Democrats and wrote the script for the reburial of Imre Nagy and his associates. He served as the executive president of the Historical Justice Committee from 1990 to 1991, later retiring from public life to dedicate himself to writing. He passed away on October 21, 2007, surrounded by family.
