László Mados was a Hungarian soil chemist and professor, born on February 26, 1901, in Beregszász, now Berehove, Ukraine. His family name was Kotzmann until 1939. He attended military academy and earned a degree in chemistry in 1926 and a technological degree in 1931. He became an associate professor at the university and established a section for agricultural soils in Egypt. He was promoted to full professor in 1943. Mados passed away on January 2, 1945, during the siege of Budapest.
