Laurence McGivern is a former Irish Paralympic swimmer born on September 22, 1992, in Rostrevor, County Down. He trained at Invictus Swimming Club in Belfast and competed in the S9 classification, notably excelling in the 100m backstroke. Throughout his career, he reached finals in various prestigious competitions, including the Commonwealth and Paralympic Games. McGivern has congenital amputations of both legs below the knee and retired from competitive swimming in May 2015 after securing a bronze medal in the IPC Swimming World Championships in Montreal in 2013.
