Koho was involved in various military activities from the Winter War to later international assignments in London, Washington, and New York. He held various leadership positions in the Finnish military until his retirement and was actively involved in veteran organizations. He was promoted to major general in 1973 and lieutenant general in 1981. He passed away on April 5, 2014, in Lappeenranta.
