Lauri Tapani Kontro, born on May 23, 1953, in Nurmes, is a Finnish journalist who served as the editor-in-chief of Maaseudun Tulevaisuus from 2000 to 2015. He held various roles including deputy editor of Suomenmaa, CEO of Suomenmaa Oy, and press counselor at the Finnish Embassy in Stockholm. Kontro was also the chairman of MTS from 2003 to 2007 and a member of the Yleisradio board from 2017 to 2021. He has a background in politics, having held positions in the Centre Party youth organizations.
