He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1927 and commanded various units including the 32nd Armored Regiment and the 1st Armored Division during his military career. He participated in extensive military maneuvers before and during World War II and served in various roles both domestically and internationally, including in Taiwan. He passed away on April 3, 1964, and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
