Lee Chong-Yeong was a prominent Korean Esperantist and honorary member of UEA, born on February 13, 1932, and died on July 4, 2008, in Daegu. He was self-taught in Esperanto, became an active member in 1949, and served as president of the Korean Esperanto Association and UEA. He initiated the first Nitobe Symposium and the Prague Manifesto. Awarded for his contributions to Esperanto, he was recognized by China and Vietnam for his efforts in the Esperanto movement. He held academic positions at various universities globally.
