Born on February 13, 1933, in Guangzhou, China, she immigrated to the United States in 1956. Initially a seamstress, her culinary passion grew while running a clothing business, leading her to open her first restaurant in 1980. The restaurant offered Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine and became a success. Over the years, she expanded her chain, which grew to over 40 locations by the time of her retirement in 1999.
