Leonard Montgomery Ross Dobbin (1935-2009) was a prominent Canadian jazz radio broadcaster, critic, and photographer from Montreal. He started his radio career in 1962 and gained acclaim with his show 'Jazz 96' in the 1970s, promoting Canadian jazz artists. Besides broadcasting, he wrote for various publications and created notable jazz photography. Dobbin overcame alcoholism in the mid-1990s and had connections with significant jazz musicians. He suffered a fatal stroke in July 2009 while in a jazz club. His contributions to jazz were recognized with a nomination shortly before his passing.
