Lenie de Nijs, born Helena Elisabeth de Nijs in April 1939, was a retired Dutch swimmer known for her expertise in freestyle and backstroke during the 1950s. She broke three world records in freestyle events in 1955 and excelled in backstroke, winning national titles and setting world records. Lenie qualified for the 1956 Summer Olympics but could not compete due to a boycott by the Netherlands. After her swimming career, she married fellow athlete Harry Vriend in 1963. She had a younger sister, Judith, who was also a notable swimmer.
