He completed his PhD in 1957 at the Landbouwhogeschool Wageningen, focusing on statistical regression theory. He held the position of professor of Mathematical Statistics at the same institution, which is now known as Wageningen University. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he was honored with the title of honorary doctor at Poznań University and was made an honorary member of the International Biometric Society.
