Leo Stodolsky is an American physicist known for his work in high-energy physics and astroparticle physics. He earned his master's degree in 1958 and his PhD in 1964 from the University of Chicago, studying under Jun John Sakurai. From 1973 to 2005, he served as the director of the theory group at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich. Stodolsky was involved in the CRESST experiment, working on cryodetectors for dark matter candidates. In 1988, he set limits on neutrino speeds based on observations from supernova SN 1987A.
