Leon Owen "Tom" Morgan (October 25, 1919 – July 29, 2002) was an American chemist and co-discoverer of Americium. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1941 and his Master’s from the University of Texas at Austin in 1942. Morgan contributed to plutonium chemistry during World War II under Glenn T. Seaborg in the Manhattan Project. He participated in the discovery of Transuranium elements and became a professor at the University of Texas at Austin post-1947. He retired in 1993 and also served as an advisor at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
