During World War II, he served as the director of the Department of Cults at the Ministry of Justice. Guided by his Christian values, he actively participated in the resistance by connecting with Yvonne Nèvejean, the director of the National Children's Work (ONE), and the Jewish Defense Committee. Notably, he protested against the arrest of 80 Jewish children in 1943, which helped secure their release alongside Queen Elisabeth.
