Leopoldo 'Bong' Jumalon Vega is a Filipino physician and surgeon who has served as undersecretary of the Department of Health since 2020. Before this, he was the medical center chief at the state-run Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City for 12 years. Vega was appointed COVID-19 Treatment Czar on July 13, 2020, as part of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus under the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases during the pandemic.
