Les Back is a British sociologist and professor of Sociology at Goldsmiths College, London. His research focuses on race, multiculturalism, popular culture, and identity. He has previously taught at Birkbeck College and the University of Birmingham's Cultural Studies department. Back regularly writes for publications such as The Guardian, Times Higher Educational Supplement, and New Humanist, as well as online magazines like openDemocracy.net and Eurozine. He has authored several books including 'Theories of race and racism' (2009) and 'Out of whiteness: Color, Politics and Culture' (2002).
