Leslie Crombie (1923–1999) was an English organic chemist known for his work in natural product chemistry, particularly with pyrethrins, which are natural insecticides. He grew up in a poor family and studied chemistry at King’s College London where he earned his doctorate. Crombie held academic positions at Imperial College London and, from 1969 until his retirement in 1988, was a professor at the University of Nottingham. He was recognized as a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1973 and received the Robert Robinson Award in 1994.
