Following his legislative career, he acted as a liaison between Governor Terry Branstad and the legislature. Menke contributed to education through various boards, including the Iowa Association of School Boards. He had a B.A. from Morningside College and attended The University of Iowa College of Law for one year. Menke received recognition from his alma mater in 1975.
