Lev Druskin was a Russian poet and translator, born in 1921 into a family of pharmacists. Due to polio in childhood, he was confined to bed and used a wheelchair. From 1980, he lived in exile in Germany after being persecuted for his writings. Druskin's poetry is characterized by its clarity and accessibility, often reflecting his personal experiences of emigration and nostalgia for his homeland. He passed away in 1990 and was buried in Tübingen. His memoirs and poetry explore themes of life during war and the fate of writers.
