Lewis Smith Parks was a decorated submarine commander in World War II, reaching the rank of Rear Admiral in the United States Navy. Born on April 13, 1902, in Bayport, New York, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1925. Parks commanded the USS Pompano and the USS Parche, earning three Navy Crosses for his service. After the war, he directed Submarine Division 202 and commanded the USS Manchester during the Korean War before retiring in 1960. He lived in Pompano, Florida, until his death on April 27, 1982.
