A.C. (Lex) Oostendorp served as the Inspector General of the Armed Forces of the Netherlands from February 11, 2010, to November 29, 2012, succeeding Vice Admiral Michiel van Maanen. In this role, he advised the Minister of Defence and was also the Inspector of Veterans. Prior to this, he was Major General and director of Operations within the Defence Staff, involved in all missions that the Dutch armed forces contributed to. Upon leaving, he was appointed an officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau with swords.
