Lia Schubert (1926–2016) was a Jewish dancer, choreographer, and instructor from Vienna who escaped Nazi persecution during World War II. After moving to Sweden, she founded the Ballet Academy at Stockholm University in 1957 and later established the Institute for Dance in Haifa, Israel. In the 1980s, she initiated the Dansteater Thalia in Gothenburg. Schubert faced health challenges and retired in 1997, passing away in 2016 at her home in Fåglavik.
