Liang Weiyan was a Chinese electrical engineer and expert in power generation equipment, born on October 2, 1929, and passed away on December 29, 2018. He was one of the principal engineers who designed the water turbines for the Three Gorges Dam, the largest power station in the world. Liang served as the chief engineer at Harbin Electric Machinery Company and studied at Harbin Institute of Technology. In 1995, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
