Lídia Pons i Griera is a Catalan philologist and professor who served at the University of Barcelona until her retirement in 2014. She earned her PhD in 1988 with a thesis on phonetic phenomena in the speech of Barberà del Vallès. Her teaching and research focus on descriptive linguistics, particularly phonetics, syntax, lexicology, and semantics. She is known for her work on dialectal variation and as co-author of the Linguistic Atlas of the Catalan Domain. Additionally, since 1994, she has been secretary of the governing board of the International Association of Catalan Language and Literature.
