She moved to Prague in 1948 and joined the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in 1956. With a background in the sciences, she worked for various media outlets including Prague Radio, gaining recognition especially during the 1968 Soviet occupation. Zachovalová was married to engineer Marcel Zachoval and had two sons. She passed away in June 2017 at a military hospital in Prague.
