Liisi Oterma was a Finnish astronomer born in 1915, known for being the first woman to earn a Ph.D. in astronomy in Finland. She discovered or co-discovered several comets, including the periodic comets 38P/Stephan-Oterma and 39P/Oterma, along with various asteroids. In recognition of her contributions to the field of astronomy, the asteroid 1529 Oterma was named in her honor. She passed away on April 4, 2001.
