Lin Xiling (1935–2009), originally named Cheng Haiguo, was a prominent Chinese activist and dissident born in Shanghai. Her father worked as a linguist at Beijing University and later moved to Taiwan. Lin enlisted in the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in 1949, serving as a secretary in Wenling, Zhejiang. In 1953, she pursued her education at Renmin University. She became notable for defending Hu Feng in a controversial case, which ultimately led to her own implication in the matter.
