He played college basketball in the United States at New Mexico Military Institute and Centenary College before moving to New Zealand. Abrams made his debut in the New Zealand National Basketball League (NBL) in 2003 and played his entire career with the Taranaki Mountainairs, concluding his professional journey in 2013.
