Lisa Clayton, born on December 30, 1958, is a pioneering British sailor known for being the first British woman to sail single-handed and non-stop around the world. She embarked on her record-breaking journey on September 17, 1994, with her yacht Spirit of Birmingham and returned after 285 days at sea, overcoming challenges including capsizing twice. Clayton was educated in Birmingham and recognized as an Honorary Freeman of the City of Birmingham in 1996. In 1997, she married the 11th Viscount Cobham.
