Louis Leon Carrol (1923–2006) was an American businessman notable for giving a puppy to Senator Richard Nixon, which played a key role in Nixon's Checkers speech in 1952. A World War II veteran, Carrol earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After returning to civilian life, he obtained a B.S. in Business from Indiana University. He worked at Lawson Products Inc. as senior executive vice president of sales until his retirement in 1996. Carrol passed away due to natural causes in 2006.
