Louis Jean-Pierre Cabri, born on February 23, 1934, in Cairo, is a prominent Canadian scientist specializing in platinum group elements (PGE) mineralogy. With a focus on precious metal mineralogy and base metals, he worked at the Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology (CANMET) as a Research Scientist and later as Principal Scientist (1996–1999). Notably, in the 1970s, Cabri discovered two new copper-iron sulfide minerals, 'mooihoekite' and 'haycockite', and in 1983, a mineral named cabriite (Pd2SnCu) was named in his honor by Russian mineralogists.
