Lucas James DeKoster was an American politician, born on June 18, 1918, in Hull, Iowa. He served in the Iowa Senate from 1965 to 1983, representing various districts as a Republican legislator. Before his political career, DeKoster was a mechanical engineer and designer for jet-propulsion engines, as well as a lawyer after passing the Iowa bar in 1952. He also delved into genealogy post-retirement and published a memoir. DeKoster passed away on February 23, 2000, at the age of 81.
